Daniel Berrigan

Prison Poems is the record of a man and priest caught in the living-death punishment for his works on behalf of human life. Written during 2 1/2 years in Danbury Federal Penitentiary, to which he was sentenced in October 1968, for conspiracy and destruction of government property. With his brother Philip and seven brother Catholic peace activist,s, he burned with homemade napalm hundreds of 1-A draft records from the files of the Catonsville, Maryland, Selective Service Office, on 5/17, 1968.
