old millet lithograph peasant girl print impressionist
This is a lovely original print from the Jean-Franois Millet painting, "La fileuse, chevrire auvergnate". This is not a poster or a page from an old book. There are no printer's dots in the magnification of the details and I assume this to be a lithograph. However, the plate impression mark around the edge is not impressed into the page: it looks to be painted on after the print was mounted to the board. The print captures the detail of this painting. Note the goats in the background and the lovely light on her face. [click small photos to enlarge]. Right corner shows the name "Hil. Braun & Cie" . Left corner "J.F. Millet print". Top left corner has the number 13133. The date of this print is unknown.
